Understanding the Connection Between Headaches and Airway Health
The Relationship Between Headache Symptoms and Airway Health
Headaches and sleep disorders often go hand in hand. Common sleep issues like obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), sleep-disordered breathing, insomnia, and excessive sleepiness can lead to headaches are often linked to an airway deficiency. In fact, morning and chronic headaches are often made worse by these sleep problems.
Sleep apnea and sleep disordered breathing disrupts sleep patterns, causing patients to sometimes wake up with headaches or feel tired even after a full night's sleep. Fortunately. many headaches related to sleep apnea improve or go away with proper treatment.
Getting good, restful sleep can help relieve migraine symptoms, but too much sleep can make them worse, which can be the case with people who sleep more due to exhaustion and to catch up on lost or poor sleep.
Waking up with a dull headache or a sore jaw might be a sign of teeth grinding. This tendency can lead to jaw pain and headaches because of the constant pressure during grinding.
