Preparing for Your Initial Consultation and First Appointment
Curious about what happens during an airway consultation? We've outlined the steps and procedures you can anticipate.

During Your Initial Consultation:
Completion of Sleep Questionnaire: Your provider will ask you to fill out a sleep questionnaire to better understand your symptoms and get a clear picture of how treatment might benefit you.
Photographs: Your provider will photos of your mouth to show you in detail any indicators of a compromised airway or underdeveloped jaws. This helps us address crowding and other related symptoms.
Airway Health Evaluation: Using an ECCO Pharyngometer, some providers will collect data on the size, structure, and collapsibility of your oral and nasal airway.
Treatment Options Explanation: Your provider will help you to understand your treatment options and how they may benefit you, so you can make an informed decision about starting treatment.
Sleep Evaluation (in cases where sleep is a factor): You may be recommended or referred or wish to evaluate your sleep, some offices offer take-home sleep monitors, These monitors are used as a screening tool to show how the health of your airway might be affecting your sleep, teeth, and quality of life. In cases of sleep disorders we will work in coordination with your medical provider or you may be referred to a Sleep doctor.
Embarking on Treatment: Should you decide to start treatment, we are excited to connect you with an Airway Center provider!

What to Expect at Your First Appointment:
Comprehensive Examination:
A thorough examination of the health of your teeth and gums will be conducted
This step can be bypassed if you have recent dental records from the past 12 months, please have them sent over to our office prior to your appointment
CT scan (for patients over 6 years old or in complex cases):
This scan helps assess a base line of your airway, TMJ health, and the eruption of permanent teeth
It allows the doctor to identify any abnormalities or missing teeth, ensuring the best outcome for your treatment
*If you are a candidate for Treatment you will continue on to the next steps, or you may be referred to a qualified physician at this point.
Measurements:
Detailed measurements of your jaws and mouth to document your starting point. These measurements help track your progress and goals throughout the treatment
These measurements help to create a plan or how much growth in different areas is needed to create your custom appliance
Intraoral Scans or Impressions:
We'll create a model of your mouth using intraoral scans or impressions
This model is essential for fabricating your custom appliance
Custom Appliance Fabrication:
Your custom appliance will be ready in just 2-4 weeks
You will then embark on a journey to a more beautiful smile, and an enhanced quality of life!
